the missing photos

look closely
it's the hair from someones head as they smashed into the windshield of a car. they walked away with a broken leg lucky them!
The polaroid's are of my (coworker/roommate/the only people i interact with) a few of them at least . some of the pictures are embarissing not only on my part as the person who took them but also for the victims of these snapshots. for whatever reason the polaroid makes you feel like a predator hunting prey waiting for just the right moment to lunge.
the other ones are wild onion and buckwheat wich have recently begun blooming and have been very nice to have around in such a dry year. the wild onion is very nice to chew on while out in the field

i've been reading to much

susnset is the only time i've set foot out of the house today. i can't seem to pull myself away from the books i've been reading. luckily i looked out the window and it was enough to get me outside for a brief period until i was eaten by mosquitoes literally! they ate my left leg.

eagle

two more that were suppose to be with the last post

it's suppose to be snowing

the weather has been horrible but in spite of that the wildlife viewing has been exceptional as it always is when your in the middle of nowhere on the largest contiguous private ranch in the country. the bird with the really long bill is a long billed curlew (very creative naming) the one with the shorter bill is a willet a very dangerous and angry bird if you ever approach it's nest and finally the golden eagle. he had just caught a prairie dog and was trying to enjoy lunch when i interrupted. this all makes me wish that i had a much larger lens so i could get closer. so i went shopping on the net and well i just don't have $6000 on hand right now. oh well there's always the future

menage e trois?

these little guys (western fence lizard) are by far the most common herps here in rich county. the only other commonly seen lizard is the lesser horny toad but they are still fairly rare compared to this one.

the bugs? not sure who they are beyond stink beetles. they are very libidinous though

invasion

The cicadas have invaded!
so damn loud that i can't hear the birds, and true to utah
the seagulls are feasting hundreds of them apparently the dump can't compare to a cicada feast.
the little ones are horned larks. the light was incredible when i found the nest so couldn't resist staying a little longer to take photos and besides their only cute right now. once their mature they are one of the more annoying birds in the shrub steppe.
then the sphinx moth at the gas station. i'm not sure what it was doing there maybe it had just done battle with a sparrow or a light bulb. this ones wings are as wide as one of my hands laid flat

the blue (orange) moon

you know a full moon usually makes people a little bit weird but a blue moon brings it out full force. the grad students and some of my co workers were hysterical....but i'm not sure about what

the delphinium is at the tail end of it's bloom so i figured i might as well get a few shots even though have two million from last year
